Aper(cul)ture is a journal of my experiences as a mostly independent student
of photography, in which I’ll document my experiences with different shooting
situations, include tutorials on how I achieved particularly good results,
highlight interesting articles I might come across, feature the work and advice of other young or particularly creative photographers, and generally try to share
tricks or tips I’ve learned for getting amazing photographs.
Because I try to travel widely, you should expect that my trips will also be
a recurring element in these writings. I’ll try to post pictures or tie my reports
to photography in some reasonable way, but you may sometimes just have to deal
with winding Proustian digressions about clambering across ruins in Delos or
bullfighting in
One final note: Personally, I’ve found that lens, aperture, shutter speed,
ISO, and other exposure data can provide really useful insight when I’m looking
at a shot I want to emulate or trying to learn more about a certain
photographic challenge, but it isn’t often that you find this information
linked to shots online or even in leading photography texts. I'll always try to
provide as much information as I can on how I achieved a shot for every photo I
upload.
